It has been a fantastic year for nullification thus far. The ideas really seem to be catching on throughout the country. Now it is just a matter of getting them out to the masses since the mainstream media isn’t doing us any favors. In spite of the media, people are quickly awakening to the fact that their government is out of control, and they are not going to want to sit around helplessly while their country falls to pieces. We are giving everyone an opportunity to get involved in our practical, peaceful plan to fight federal tyranny state by state.
I will be taking this plan to the Republican State Convention tomorrow night to talk to grassroots conservatives about the next phase in taking back their country! Luckily, I will have a long list of successes to talk to them about whether it’s fighting Obamacare, Predator Drone surveillance, the NDAA or federal gun control. That should get them encouraged. I will also have the honor of spreading the word about a few fantastic pieces of legislation that are going through the Michigan State House of Representatives and Senate right now!
House Bill No. 4138 has been introduced and will ‘prohibit any agency of this state, any political subdivision of this state, any employee of any agency of this state or any political subdivision of this state, or any member of the Michigan national guard from assisting an agency of the armed forces of the United States in the investigation, prosecution, or detainment of any citizen of the United States under certain circumstances.’ It was introduced by heroic State Reps McMillin, McBroom, VerHeulen, Johnson, Kelly, Howrylak, Foster, Somerville, Genetski, MacMaster, Pagel, Ananich, Irwin, Yonker and Lauwers. A companion bill, SB94, was introduced in the State Senate by Senators Jones, Colbeck, Green, Proos, Pavlov, Marleau and Pappageorge, respectively.
We hope to build on last year’s momentum to get these bills passed once and for all. Rep. Tom McMillan and many other dedicated freedom fighters worked to get a similar bill passed in the State House unanimously late last year. Unfortunately, action was not taken on it in the State Senate before the year was over. With the companion bill being introduced this time around in the Senate, we won’t have to worry about a similar situation happening. We will just have to make sure that the grassroots are alerted to these bills, and they make their voices be heard in vociferous support of these crucial legislative acts.
In addition to fighting the NDAA, we are also working on preserving gun rights for people in Michigan. This year, Senate Bill 63 has been introduced which would exempt all firearms and firearm accessories from federal gun control laws that are made in the State of Michigan. The bill says, “A personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Michigan and that remains within the borders of Michigan is not subject to federal law or federal regulation, including registration, under the authority of congress to regulate interstate commerce. It is declared by the legislature that those items have not traveled in interstate commerce.” This bill was sponsored by Senators Pavlov, Jones, Green, Casperson, Meekhof, Proos, Jansen, Brandenburg, Hildenbrand, Nofs, Colbeck, Emmons, Marleau.
It really is refreshing to see so many different government officials coming together to support pro-freedom bills like these. This goes to show you that as public perception changes, the government officials will change with it in order to stay in office. That is what we are seeing now, and we need everyone to get involved and do something to save the Constitution. At the Tenth Amendment Center, we are building a coalition unlike any that has ever been created. We have tea parties and the ACLU working together to promote liberty, which is no small feat. Help us break up the fake political system, displace the corrupt establishment politicians and show the feds that we the people won’t just roll over and accept a 1984-style dystopia being forced upon us.
